Regional specialities: the taste of Bredene
In keeping with its easy-going character, Bredene has a few genuine local makers, from a brewery with an island feel to artisanal treats, that bring the taste of the town to your plate and your glass.
- Brouwerij Betsy: this Bredene brewery makes beers with a clear connection to the town, the best-known being Blonde Betsy, certified as a 100% West Flemish regional product. The name is a wink to the dune sculpture De Wind, affectionately nicknamed "Blote Betsy" (Naked Betsy) by locals.
- Artisanal sweets: let yourself be tempted by local treats, from home-made marzipan and chocolate to fresh ice-cream sundaes and waffles, made by hand and lovely with a coffee.
- Coffee with a story: in Bredene a small-scale roaster roasts fresh beans with character, ideal for holding on to the village's island feel at home too.
- Fresh from the coast: as a coastal village it's of course also all about the sea here, from day-fresh North Sea fish and grey shrimp to the famous oysters from the nearby Spuikom at Ostend, straight from the grower.
