The beaches are child-friendly, flat and remain nearly untouched. In the area around Bredene, coast, beach and dunes are in complete harmony. The approximately four kilometre long row of dunes is the natural protection for the hinterland, which is below sea level. This spa-town is known for its many play-, hiking- and sportsfacilities and as the prime destination for people who love nature.
A sunbath or a walk along the beach, playing fun or water sports. The very well maintained, white beaches of Bredene will offer you peace and quietness. The beaches will be cleaned everyday during the summer. Besides the rescue brigade will guard the beaches and warns when there is a dangerous current or wind; a pleasant and safe feeling.
However, there are more unique characteristics to Bredene. It has the first and only nudist beach of the Belgian coast. Ever since the opening of this fenced beach, it has been the place to be for nudists. Its location in front of a protected area of dune landscape makes sure you have absolute privacy.
During the summer months, in the phenomenal dune landscape you can enjoy the sea breeze and sun nude. Nudists gather at the part of the beach next to beach post 6.
The nude beach is available annually from the first weekend before Easter to the second weekend of October. During the months of July and August the lifeguards watch over the safety of the bathers. Even in good weather on the weekends of September are the lifeguards present. To achieve smooth and safe access to the nude beach it is best to use the tunnel located at the height of the tram Renbaan is (beach post 6).

On the beaches you will find flags and signs with instructions for swimming. It is wise to take account of these signals. They are there for you!

Dogs at the beach
The beaches of Bredene be an attractive environment for recreation, for both humans and dogs. And what could be better than a walk on the beach with your dog. In the summer season are dogs, either loose or on a leash, not on all the beaches of the Belgian coast welcome.
Access with dogs is prohibited on the beach and in the dunes (except paved trails), if all the following conditions are met:
- In the period from 1 July to 31 August;
- From 10.30 to 18.30;
- In one of the following areas:
a) from the first breakwater east of Beach Access "Hippodrome" (salvation item 6) to 300 meters west of Beach Access "Turkeyen" (reddingspost1);
b) from the second breakwater east of Beach Access "Hippodrome" (salvation item 6) to the boundary of De Haan.

- At low tide there is a strong current towards the sea, than stay close to shore. In case you get pulled in by the current do not try to swim straight against it, but swim slanting to the shore with the current. Also be aware of floating devices like air-beds, boats or other swimming devices.
- Do not get to close to the poles, piers or other obstacles.
- Watch your children carefully, do not let them alone near the water. Are there recognition signs on the beach, tell it to your children.
- Help to keep the beaches clean.
